YEH HAI BUMBAI MERI JAAN
A bit of Bombay on the streets of Bhopal. Kurious Kannya takes her tastebuds on a Bumbaii tour
-Bombay Street Café

As the week and the month drew to a close our pockets were drained but our appetite wasn’t. Kurious kannya went out in the search for an affordable and yet gratifying fix for her cravings.

Enough of the Italian, Mexican and Continental, it was time for something pukka and desi this time. The streets of Bombay called out to Kurious Kanya just as she was yearning for a hearty and authentic meal from Aamchi Mumbai, and anyone who has once tasted the genuine Mumbaiyaa street food knows that Bhopal sells a pretty modified version of it. Well! Bombay Street Café came as a godsend to fulfil all those wishes.

A 5-month-old café located right opposite to Aura Mall on the main road. The décor and ambience were rooted in its namesake with a wall adorned with a large map of the city of dreams, Mumbai painted specially by an artist from Kerala. The entire eatery has been kept simple and comfy, instead of the routine pomp and show. Besides to the tables and chairs, there is a small corner dedicated for the kitty parties, Family get together and birthday parties.

The owners of the cafe have tried to put in their 100% to regain the soulful taste of the Mumbai streets. The entire Chef team, as well as all the spices, are all from the heart of Mumbai, which is evident in the original and unmistakable taste in the food, be it the Pav Bhaji, Frankies, Dosas or the Vada Pav.

Kannya starts her binge eating session with Pav Bhaji and Coolberg instantly getting reminded of the stalls at Juhu, that’ll describe it all! #Beingbollywood.

Next up was their café special Jinni dosa, one from the 47 varieties of fusion dosas in their menu Filled with paneer, capsicum and adorned with cheese, a sight to behold just from the presentation, but the flavours were even better. 5 dosa rolls stacked up in a dynamic way with cheese dripping from above it #Breakingthestereotype.

Furthermore, the Vada Pao ( Which was just Rs. 30)- The pav was soft and fresh and the vada was just crispy and soft at the perfect parts. The flavours of the masala blended in perfectly with the aloo. And no, the customary Mumbai red masala and green chutney were NOT missing.

Ending up her monstrous diet Kannya had a Mayonnaise veg Jumbo Grill The presentation of the sandwich was comparatively the lowest compared to the rest of the food items. The corners of the sandwhich were not very soft although they tried to maintain taste.

On entering the establishment, the delicious meal was followed by shots of Paan and Jaamun flavoured concoctions, which were incredibly refreshing and also great palate vitalizers. Thumbs up for the innovation!

The best thing about this charming cafe is the innovation in the menu. In addition to their scrumptious Dosas almost all of iconic Bombay street foods are here, many of them with a twist. All the dishes in the vast menu are made in pure butter, and if you are in the mood for something out of the box but still homely, you’ll never run out of things to try! The affordable prices, the location and even the private nook present, make this Café a great place to host a party.
