Kuriouskannya found the baba who can cook @Limapulo

Kuriouskannya left no stone unturned to find a place to slake her followers demands. After adding nearly a 100 tabs to her laptop history, she finally stumbled upon a name that made it to almost all the 'best food experience in KL ' lists on Google.

Limapulo: Baba Can Cook located at the Row, Jalan Doraisamy, is an instagramer's wonderland that excels at popularly known Baba Nyonya cuisine( kannya will briefly let you know about the Baba Nyonya cuisine later in the post). The interiors have been done in an extremely unique old school way. All most all the posters, furniture , wall hangings and ornaments will take you back to the golden Malaysian era.

ANTIQUE INTERIORS

The interior designing elements used are more of the architectural structural elements. The metal bracket used against a concrete wall adds a lot of anomaly.

THE METAL BRACKET

The cart wheel is used as a chandelier with bulbs hung to the jute rope entangled between the spokes.

WHEEL CHANDELIER

The element that managed to please kannya the most was the success symbolic ladder showcasing the achievements by this little dreamy food paradise.

SUCCESS LADDER

Besides to the qwirky interiors the food outlet offers an outdoor sitting area, an adjunct to Kuala Lumpur, with tons of greenry to enhance the out door dining experience.

OUTDOOR SEATING AREA

Coming to the food now, Baba Nyona is an authentic cuisine evolved by the amalgamation of the Chinese and Malaysian  flavors. The preparation of the Nyonya dishes require a lot of patience , right from hunting of the authentic ingredients to cooking it to the perfect stage in the kitchen.

The food ordering style there was DISTINCTIVE and kannya loved it!!. So, each table of the outlet was provided with the set of laminated menu cards and few paper leaflets of the menu in a tabular format. Kannya just had to tick her choice and fill in the remarks in the leaflet and the waiter would come and collect it. Unlike India, it was a pragmatic approach to cater to the immense rush the outlet has almost at all the hours of the day.

ORDERING PAMPHLET

Kannya was advised to order the traditional patent, Nyonsa Laksa with some skewers to much along.

The service was reasonably quick.
The bright orange droolworthy laksa was worth a try. (Laksa is a spicy soup typical to the Malaysians and have rice noodles or rice vermicelli with chicken or prawn or fish) The broth, aromatic but not as thick as I assumed, did manage to tickle her salivary glands. The strong fragarence of lemongrass was taking over the other spices like chillies, turmeric, candlenuts, Malaysian spices ( kannya still needs to memorise thier names) and some other secret ingredients. At 9.90RM the hot and spicy bowl containing boiled egg, fish balls, veggies and accurately cooked noodles did give kannya a worthy keeping experience.

STRUGGLING WITH THE CHOPSTICKS

Next on the go was the satay ayam ( chicken skewers ) , a platter serving skewers accompanied with Nasi Himpit ( a squished rice barfi ) Kuah Kacang ( peanut sauce) and some raw salad. Well, the flavors might be truly Malaysian but couldn't impress kannya's taste buds the way Laksa did. The sauce was expected to be spicy and hot but turned out to be a bit bland.

SATAY AYAM

Kannya finished satiated her sweetooth cravings after a palette satisfying meal by having Sago Gula Melaka. A special Malaysian dessert made from Sago (sabudana) Coconut Milk and Palm Sugar. Kannya was extremely impressed to see this innovative way of using sabudana rather than the boring khichdi 😂.

SAGO GULA MELAKA

All in all, it was a chilled out eventful experience. Kannya has added a new cuisine and taste to her tasting goblet and is thankful to you guys for voting for Kuala Lumpur.
