It smiled, dissembling its true emotion.

This one is for all the vegans sitting behind the screen!
Nature's Vegetarian, Bangsar

Kuala Lumpur is the land for all food fanatics! With a population catering to nearly 58% Malaysians 30 % Chinese population 14% Indians and rest belonging to the other countries , the city has succeeded in catering to the minority vegans dwelling here. The Nature's Vegetarian has peculiarly stood strong to compete with all the regular vegan outlets.

Having staying in KL for nearly 4 months now, Kuriouskannya had to be the #tourguide and #foodguide for her vegetarian family visiting her. Being a hard core non vegetarian she had nearly no knowledge about the famous vegetarian restaurants in KL. Anyhow, strolling on the streets of Bangsar and showing them the ostentatious streetlife, the Large hoarding stating Natures Vegtarian popped in front of her eye as a savior, and without a prior homework she just entered in with her family for a Sunday lunch.

The exterior of the restaurant was not very appealing but as soon as kannya stepped in, the entire look and feel took her to the chinaland. Buddhist statue configurations, the traditional Chinese dragon sculptures, the artifact painted plates and finally the huge Chinese idols placed right at the end of the room were dramatizing the entire ambiance. Besides to these they displayed a rack full of their conventional utensils. The entire environment was quiet, calm and serene compared to the flamboyant and obtrusive Bangsar life. The round tables with the revolving top was one of the main highlights, but made the done up a bit cluttered.

Settling on one of the round tables, the costume adorned waiter placed their huge menu in front of others and then finally kannya making her feel extremely sheepish. The entire menu stated only non-veg dishes! Looking at everyone's baffled faces the waiter sensed the confusion, passed a sly smile and came down to clear : All the dishes are vegan and are mimicking the nonveg dishes! .. kannya set a sigh of relief and ordered the recommended proliferate dishes to pacify the exaggerating hunger.

The appetizing meal was inaugurated with the waiter placing the customary  soy sauce and red and green pepper on the revolving tray. #eatatyourownrisk was extremely spicy and hot.

Kuriouskannya kick started her Sunday binge with the fruit tea. The infusion was bursting out with colour, life and immense flavor which cleansed kannyas system and prepared her for the delicious meal. A worthy amalgamation of passion fruit, lime, green apple and orange with no added sugar.  Though served hot the delectable aroma surely managed to take kannya on the virtual tropical ride.

Following the fruit tea, the first ersatz presented was the Sweet and Sour Veg Meat Rice. The sweet and sour flavor belongs to the Asian family and most of the cuisines are incomplete without this flavor. Kannya's mock chicken was tofu fried and coated with a tangy sauce and stir fried with a lot of colorful veggies served with a heap of rice and a contrasting papad. A slurp of sauce followed by the crunchy bell pepper slice with a mouthful of rice was just it to satiate Kannya's tasting pleasure.

Next on the run was the fried rice. The preparation and the quantity was quite well but it did not manage to astound Kannya much as she had already tasted quite flavorful fried rice else where. The fried rice was just 11.9 RM which is quite economical for a fine dine amidst the busy and chirpy Bangsar.

Yam Basket, often called Monk's Hat was the next to rotate on Kannya's table. The dish was prepared by steaming the yam and molding it in a form of a ring and frying it till the basket became crispy golden-brown. The basket was then filled with vegetables and mock-meat cooked in the middle and topped with some sauteed vegetables and cashew nuts. Kuriouskannya is not a very big fan of yam but she enjoyed the slightly sweet basket with the savory filling, surprisingly it managed to ignite Kannya's new love affair. Twas Oh so beautiful to look at !

Special Fried Mee( Noodles) on the menu, was the next to take rounds.  The in-house springy textured mee was very well cooked! Drowned in thick black soy sauce, crowned with cabbage and carrot gave a multi sensation to Kannya's taste buds, a hint of spice, salt, sweet, savory and tangy flavors all making their way through unitedly.

Steamed vegemeat Chee Cheong Fun ( steamed rice rolls in English) was the next stabilizer. Prawn was duplicated by rice flour, steamed to perfection and served with Sambal. The special crisp sesame seeds garnished the dimsum dish and added a contrasting texture to the gooey whole. Kuriouskannya would rate it perfect as a snack.

Next, Kannya was served with the Korean delicacy Bibimbap. Even if one isn't really familiar with Korean food, the Korean stone pot chicken rice is probably that you would have tasted or atleast heard of . It is well-known and a beloved Korean dish to many people :P The rice had extremely distinct flavor and was plated in a very traditional and authentic style. And yes the complimentary heap of the weed garnish was not missing! For the people who are not easy chilly eaters ,you need to be a bit careful, the hefty hot mixture of spices can heat up your throat.

As dish after dish came kannya's way she was getting more and more convinced with the thought as to why people are going #vegan these days. The dishes practically tried to instill as many proteins and vitamins as the meat dishes but were not very heavy on the core and were definitely #healthier .

Well! any foodie who visits a Chinese restaurant needs to hog on the patented dimsums. A trend happily repeated by kannya. Her all-time favorite dimsums were as silky and trembling as she had expected it to be. One was filled with the regular shredded cabbage and carrot mixture and the other was filled in with finely chopped tofu. They were just muahh!!

The elaborate meal was concluded with Fried Lotus Root in Marmite, As great and unique as all the dishes were ,this one proved to become the star of the binge session. Marmite is a marination generally used for pork roasts. Kannya was taken aback by the idiosyncratic use of this sauce. Like the general crispy stir fried veggies it wasn't soggy or slimy as one would fear; this was crispy and tender at the same time.
