A land of natural heritage, all cities of MP offer numerous alluring getaway spots.

The capital, Bhopal is one such city. Located not more than 30 kms from the heart of the city, Mahadev Paani caught Kannya and her friends’ eye.

“Handicapped as a tourist, with no personal vehicle, we agreed it was time to see what the craze for zoom cars was all about.  With easy online booking, flexible packages (distance and price) inclusive of fuel costs and a convenient pick up point, we were all set for our day trip to explore the bounties of nature.

Abiding by the ‘rules of road trips’ and owing to the cold monsoon breeze we made our first stop for the much needed morning Chai – fuel for the soul. The earthly smell of rain mixed with the freshly cooked pakodas and samosas set the perfect mood.

With the onset of pelting rain and a need for mandatory road trip brunch, we geared towards a nearby Dhaba. Contrary to our general expectations, we came upon a huge property, with landscaped lawns, personal coupes, and sheltered khats with was just what we needed. Seating ourselves on one of the Khats, we took in our surroundings – the giant trees shading the stone benches, little huts dotting the space, the roof over our heads supported by twisted trunks of wild trees and the aroma of burning wood for the traditional chulha. Hunger triggered, we ordered a mix variety of HOT parathas that were served with butter and green chillies.Bellies full of food, rock music in our ears and adventure in our hearts we were back on track towards our destination.

Lord Shiva’s waters commonly known as Mahadev Paani, is an unexposed tourist spot located in proximity to the Raisen road ( NH86) . Steps lead down to the nook of the cascading waterfall, falling from an elevation of 70 ft showering its visitors with abundant water. Enjoy the cozy niche under this shower, and take a little dip if you dare. The surrounding rocky contours provide little hubs for perfect picture spots for those social media birds. #potd

Apart from the designated canteen these landscapes also provide ground for small vendors. Be sure to binge on sliced masala Kheeras, Jamuns, Bers and Bhuttas like us.

Tired yet relaxed by the serenity around, we load into our car to head back.
