Kuriouskannya meanders to a newbie. Bar.Code 

Roaming around the streets of Bangsar, in search of a good chill-out spot to ace her Friday night goals at the LIT Jalan Telawi, kuriouskannya came across a small entrance staircase with an unassuming black and white sign; Bar.Code. The sound of heavy beats and the heady smell of shisha drew her up.

Upon entering, kannya stood awestruck looking at the huge mural done on the entrance facing facade. The place was quite crowded for the time, 9.30pm. The entire decor was bare-bones industrial with copper light fixtures and naked cement walls. The rightly maintained warm lights was setting the mood right. The first impression of the bar with its comfortable mid-century modern-inspired chairs was truly inviting.

Further inside were high tables, also packed with early Friday night partiers and to the end, the DJ working his magic. A large window spanning the width of the place overlooked the hectic street below, stood in contrast to the entire ambiance and connected kannya to street’s festivities.

Kannya grabbed her drink and settled on one of the comfy sofas, admiring the exposed ceiling and neon lights lining the window seats, her woolgathering was then struck by the owner itself who had come to take the order. A short chat with the owner; gave her an insight to Bar.Code’s story. Two friends, since kindergarten worked upon creating a space where people could just chill-out and let loose a simple space with a no frills attached vibe. The quirky décor choice are the black murals that dot the place, inspired by the owners’ home-state Penang.

The overall ambiance of the bar was quite enticing and their cocktails were just as good as their playlist! Must visit if you have a palate for Spanish cuisine. It was a happy night for dear kannya :)
