#trending with kurious kannya- A fun ambiance being a stop to chill out with your friends!

On our girls weekend out, we decided to treat ourselves with shopping, movie, food & drinks. While casually wandering around ashima mall after the movie, enjoying the chilly monsoon winds, the striking rooftop hoarding and the loud music @NH12 invited us.

With a very welcoming vibe the thoughtful interiors of this distinctive theme restaurant were dramatic and eye- catching compared to the cliché rooftop cafes of Bhopal. The 2 storey café was done up in a roadside highway eatery concept. Wooden pergolas covered with green creepers demarcated the seating arrangement. The seating was made in wood and planned to cater to people in large groups. A passage cut into the floor which was made to look like a road (highway) with its black paint and white road markings led to the various seating spaces around it. The dim yellow lighting created a very soft mood. The lower storey included several elements to enhance the theme, a giant map on the wall displayed the NH12 (national highway 12, India) route with all the cities and towns highlighted on it, Cycle-shaped lamps, Phone-booth and the negative spaces between the walkway and seating was creatively used to incorporate a fountain made with tyres or varying sizes. The upper mezzanine storey, the non-smoking zone, made in a more subtle manner. The pitched roof with its exposed wooden trusses gave a beautiful country side feeling while we were smack in the middle of the city. Accompanied by funny graffiti the feel of the entire place was warm and cozy.

Excited by the ambiance, we looked forward to the food after going through the generous multi-cuisine menu. Our order came one dish at a time which was a little disappointing if you are in a group and want to commence eating together. But it worked for us as we obviously attacked each other’s meal and had a little bit of everything. Sharing is caring :)

The first dish that arrived was veg penne Alfredo pasta and we dived in like hungry savages and savored its creamy texture. The wait between every dish gave us ample time assess, analyse and critique the dish to bits. The unsalted French fries arrived soon after but didn’t turn out to be a party fav for us. Following which arrived the spaghetti in red sauce and was a total hit with its tangy gravy and well cooked spaghetti. The waiter brought our drinks, a lemon soda, kiwi mojito, sparkling blueberry lemonade and green apple lemonade. They got mixed reviews with green apple rating the highest and the lemon soda making us cringe got the lowest rank from us. next showed up tandoori veg platter and the lasagna with garlic bread. The platter was the most average of all the dishes and the lasagna tasted well. And finally arrived the poor cold coffee that we had been waiting for over 45 minutes. Maybe the restaurant was a little short staffed but the overall quality of the food was good, the quantity was generous and presentation decent.
